On the morning of January 12, 2022, amid enthusiastic applause, Ding Yi, Party Secretary and Chairman of Maanshan Iron & Steel Group and Maanshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd., announced the official completion of the 7m coke oven project in the South District of Maanshan Iron & Steel. Huatai Chairman Xu Lie and General Manager Han Dong were invited to attend the ceremony and witness this landmark moment, marking a new milestone for the client to ensure a stable supply of internally produced coke.

Huatai served as the general contractor for the CDQ project of the coke oven system, with the project breaking ground on February 22, 2020. Despite challenges such as the pandemic, flooding, and limited construction space, the No. 1 CDQ unit commenced operations on July 22, 2021. Among the many companies competing in this coke oven project, Huatai’s CDQ unit was the first to meet commissioning requirements, earning full recognition and high praise from the client! Since its commissioning, No. 1 CDQ Unit has operated stably, solely ensuring continuous production for two coke ovens. The No. 2 CDQ unit commenced operations on November 24, 2021, six days ahead of the scheduled target, thanks to the proactive efforts of the project team in view of the pressure of maintaining production for two coke ovens with a single CDQ unit. The startup of No.2 CDQ unit helped to achieve the new coke ovens’ production goal and served as the “cornerstone” for a stable coke oven production of the client.
Since its commissioning, the CDQ project has boosted Maanshan Iron & Steel’s coke output, its ability to ensure a stable supply to blast furnaces, and its level of automated production. It has also effectively reduced pollutant emissions in compliance with national environmental protection policies, and yielded significant economic and environmental benefits.
